What are we doing. . .

This is a blog to track, motivate and reach a goal together. I decided to start training for a sprint triathlon in April of 2010. I also plan on competing in the 2010 Transplant Games in Madison, Wisconsin on July 30th-Aug 4th. Feel free to follow and give encouragement or advise along our journey together!!

My childhood friend Jennifer is also training and is planning on completing the sprint triathlon by my side on team "jamiebug"

Out of my control!

I have really been struggling with having energy. . .I suspect my medications or vitamin levels are "off". I am hoping to get this resolved ASAP due to it not only affecting my workout, but also my other activities I am involved in. It's a bit of a crazy unpredictable life post Lung Transplant. I am sure with a few adjustments I should feel like myself again soon.

Found my motivation. . .it was lost!

Jamie:

Today I was sitting on the couch playing on the computer like I have been doing to way to many days which have now turned into weeks. . .

Just about a month ago, I was working out really regularly. I had a set workout program I was sticking to impressibility well and started to see some great results. Somehow along the way these last 4-6 weeks, I seemed to have misplaced my motivation. I could not seem to find it anywhere. I was content to just seriously sit in one spot on the couch for hours at a time~ WHAT WAS WRONG WITH ME??? I have been wanting to start up my workout for some time now. Lesson learned,'don't break your workout routine'. I am pretty sure I can trace it back to the day when I told myself it was okay to just skip one day, then two wouldn't hurt. . . and pretty soon my new routine was sitting on the computer, eating junk, and feeling bad about it.

Not anymore! I guess what happened was I listened to my own advise. I have goals I have set and no one can force me to reach them except myself. I can't wait around for someone to motivate me or be my workout partner. If I wait on others then I have only given myself an excuse when I don't go. . . and that's not the way to accomplish great things. So today I dug out my running shoes, put on my new workout clothes I got for Christmas and got off my butt~ I started my workout program over. I ran 2 minutes and walked 2 minutes for 20 minutes doing just over a mile. I was surprised that it was easier than I thought it was going to be. I guess I retained some endurance (not a lot). One step at a time. . . one day at a time. . . .that's what I need to focus on and always be looking forward to my goals I have set~

It's a new year & time to kick it into gear!

Jamie:

Okay, so I have been dealing with some crummy stuff that all my medication does to me now. I am determined to kick it all in the butt and really get this new year rolling! I have the Transplant Games in July and I want to hit a few races in between. I am honestly thinking of hiring a personal trainer. . . .will be looking into that. It may just be what I need :) Bryan is not overly helpful as being my workout partner although I would love for that motivation to come from him. I may be on my own which everyone knows is hard to stay on top of your game. But all this is for me and my goals to accomplish so I better get a move on!!!! Here I come 2010!!!!

5K For COTA!

I am really considering participating in a 5K Charity race. It is for COTA. ..they are a non profit group that helps raise money for Kids and CFer's who need transplants! So It's definitely something I would like to help and participate in! Plus it would be a good starter race for me~ Being that I need to get my butt back to running regularly! :) It's at the end of April. So plenty of time to run 3 miles~

Confession

I feel like I need to confess my slacking off to anyone who may be following this blog. I don't want to make excuses. . .so I will just make a justification (totally different) :) I admit I have been preoccupied with the holiday, family in town and Bryan's schedule has had many changes that has thrown me off~ I promise that I will again start posting my workout, and reporting my improvement more frequently. I also promise that I will not eat huge quantities of Christmas goodies that will set me back in my workout goals, and I promise that I will be ready for competitions by spring of 2010. . . .those things I promise to you and myself!!

Peace Out~ Jamie

I am still working forward!

I haven't posted in a while. I haven't got much running in lately :( I have been working inside my apartment more lately. I have been working on my bike along with my muscle strengthening and toning video. . . which still kicks my butt. It's hard to stay focused right now with the holidays and so much other stuff going on. I have goals to reach, so I need to kick it into high gear again. Our pool is heated and I want to go swimming. . .if it would just stop raining here! We have had pretty much record lows for this time of year~ maybe next week I can get a few days of swimming in. Bryan started a job, so hopefully I can afford a pass at a training center or something! :) Oooh, I will hire a personal trainer! That would force me to reach my goal! I can do it, I know I can. . I survived a freaking double lung transplant, I can do ANYTHING!

Transplant Games: Team Arizona

Jamie:

To start, I worked out tonight, getting back to my running and I can really feel that I took too much time off!! Slowly I will get to my goals! I didn't do too bad, I managed to do my mile, just more walking, less running :) Lesson learned!

Also, I have joined team Arizona in my journey to get and compete at the transplant games 2010. They are going to be in Madison, Wisconsin July 30-Aug 4th~ I want to compete in swimming and possibly some track events. . . I do need to raise about $1,300-$1,500 somewhere in there is what they guesstimate it will cost per athlete. I am going to try to raise as money as I can for myself and the team will also help with some of our costs.

So to raise money. . . I will be giving my "save a life, be someone's hero" butterfly vinyl decal to anyone who donates over $10. I can make them in other colors if you don't like pink and aqua! Lime green and pink are cute, yellow and green, blue and green, red and white, gold and white. . . so on. You can contact me via email if you would like to donate, or you can go to my jamiebug blog and you will see where you can donate through my paypal~ If you have any questions please email me also or leave them as a comment here.

email: jamiebug77@hotmail.com

Team Arizona is set up as a 501c tax deductible charity, so if you want to be a sponsor to the team or make a bigger donation you can ask me how. The money the team raises will assist me along with up to 40 others which include transplant athletes, and donor family members who wish to attend.
